World: Hamas, Fatah agree to form interim Palestinian government

  • Hamas, Fatah sign reconciliation deal: The two Palestinian groups (Fatah, of which Palestinian Authority President Abbas is a member, holds power in the West Bank while Hamas, which won the last parliamentary election in 2006, holds power over the Gaza Strip) have struck a deal to form an interim government and set the stage for elections. The two sides truck the deal after secret meetings in Cairo, and comes as a huge geopolitical surprise. Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu issued a stern ultimatum in response: “The Palestinian Authority must choose either peace with Israel or peace with Hamas. There is no possibility for peace with both.” source

  • Ring the bell, school’s in sucka. San Francisco 49ers possible rookie Michael Crabtree still hasn’t signed, and we’re already in October. But he may have a killer negotiator, one who went bankrupt only to come back like a “Behind the Music” success story. M.C. Hammer, a friend of Crabtree’s agent, was (bizarrely) helping out. If we were the 49ers, we’d double our offer for Crabtree. source

Sports: The Eagles have landed … Michael Vick. Wait, what?

  • Is Donovan McNabb not doing it anymore? The Philadelphia Eagles were the winners of the nab-Michael-Vick contest, which is surprising because they already have a really good quarterback in the thrower spot already. The Eagles gave the suspended Vick a two-year contract, although Vick won’t be able to help them until Roger Goodell gives the OK to let him play in a regular-season game. That won’t come until at least October, if at all. Either way, look for him to play in the final two games of the preseason. source
