U.S.: A Kennedy and Shriver family matriarch is on her deathbed

  • She’s Ted’s sister. She’s Ahnold’s mother-in-law. 88-year-old Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the founder of the Special Olympics and a woman who’s probably had a more interesting and indirectly influential life that the rest of us, is currently in critical but stable condition in a Cape Cod, Mass. hospital.   • Chip Pickering’s tie A mistress of former Mississippi Rep. Chip Pickering, who didn’t run for re-election in 2008, was sued by Pickering’s wife on charges of cheating with her hubby in the house.
  • John Ensign’s tie Nevada Sen. John Ensign, currently in the midst of the fallout from his own affair, was apparently roommates with Pickering at the sketchtastic D.C.-based home with religious group ties.
  • Mark Sanford’s tieS.C. Gov. Mark Sanford, while a congressman, was a member of the group. When word broke of his recent marital problems, he said he was getting help from the house. Conspiracy theories ahoy! source

Politics: Commentary: April Fool’s Jokes about politics aren’t funny

  • “A conservative lesbian” offers a great example. Cynthia Yockey’s article, titled “Obama confesses to treason and resigns, co-conspirators are in custody, Hillary Clinton sworn in as president,” imagines Obama getting arrested for being everything that bat$&^# insane conservatives say he is. Ms. Yockey, April Fool’s Day jokes are supposed to be funny. Make something up about how they found cheese on the moon. Pull a prank on your boss. But don’t subject people to stuff like this. source
