Politics: McDonald’s franchisee regretting telling workers how to vote

  • If the right people are elected, we will be able to continue with raises and benefits at or above our present levels. If others are elected, we will not.
  • A message distributed with paychecks at a Canton, Ohio McDonald’s • Telling employees to vote for the GOP – or else. The dude who sent out the note with the paychecks was called out for it, for good reason, but he gave one of those non-apology apologies which are in vogue nowadays. “Distributing this communication was an error of judgment on my part,” said a statement from franchisee Paul Siegfried. “Please know it was never my intention to offend anyone. For those that I have offended, I sincerely apologize.” Protip: Don’t disenfranchise voters by threatening to cut (or limit) their benefits. It’ll bite you in the ass. source

U.S.: Did they catch him? Serial stabber suspect arrested at airport

  • It makes me feel a lot better, and a lot safer for everyone. Hopefully, it’s him.
  • Barbara Motley-Embry • Regading the reported arrest of a man tied to a series of stabbings mostly in Flint, Michigan. Motley-Embry’s son David Motley was the first victim of the purported serial killer, who also has ties to attacks in Leesburg, Va. and Toledo, Ohio. All but two of the victims in the attacks were black, leading many to believe that there is a strong racial motivation to the case. Here’s hoping they got their man – this guy was reportedly about to board a flight to Israel. source

Offbeat: NO!!!!!!! Touchdown Jesus burned down! GAAAAAAAAH

  • This may be the saddest video ever. Touchdown Jesus, a large statue visible on I-75 in Monroe, Ohio, was destroyed by a lightning strike last night. Damage has been set at $700,000 – $300,000 for the statue itself and another $400,000 for damage to the ampitheater. Stupid acts of God, ruining great things. source

Politics: Joe the Plumber says John Wayne should play him in a movie

  • I definitely cried when ‘Old Yeller’ got shot. I also cried in ‘Remember the Titans.’
  • Sam “Joe the Plumber” Wurzelbacher • In an fairly cheeky interview with AOL News. On the scale of attractiveness, Wurzelbacher gives himself a 7. He types with three fingers, not two. He says he wishes John Wayne were alive so he could play him in a movie. And he notes that when he was 28, he could bench press over 450 pounds. The conservative icon recently became a politician, winning a seat on the Republican party committee in Lucas County, Ohio. And he knows when to cry at a movie. source

Politics: Shh. Dennis Kucinich has something to say. Pay attention!

  • Did Dennis Kucinich get the UFO kickback? Tomorrow, Congress’ strangest member could announce a profound changing of mind on a bill he has fought against because it doesn’t go far enough. Obama went to Kucinich’s district for a health care rally on Air Force One over the weekend, and it could’ve changed Denny’s mind. Or maybe not. Either way, dude has more attention on him than ever before. source
