World: Ahmadinejad has delusions of making a nuclear deal with the West

  • There are some talks under way over the nuclear fuel swap. The case is not yet closed … we have already announced that we are ready for a fuel exchange within a fair framework.
  • Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad • Regarding hopes for a nuclear fuel swap despite the fact that they had already started enriching uranium. Iran already missed their chance; the UN’s deal required other countries to enrich the fuel for Iran so that it wasn’t at a high enough grade for them to build weapons. The chance that they’ll be sanctioned is pretty dang high. source

World: Iran twists the West’s arm on a nuclear counter-offer

  • Western governments have until the end of the month to take Iran’s offer. Remember how the U.S. tried really hard to convince Iran to agree to a nuclear plan that limited their ability to create nuclear weapons? And how Iran pussyfooted around with them? Well, after ignoring the offer and missing a deadline, now Iran’s playing hardball, setting a counter-offer and saying the West has to agree or they’ll just do what they want. Great. source

  • Iran has officially moved from “double dare” to “triple dog dare.” With the class of a unlikeable bully on the playground, Iran announced today that they planned to open up 10 new enrichment plants. Iran was responding to a demand by the UN that they stop enriching at Fordow, the site that was only disclosed recently. FYI: Iran responds, guns blazing, both middle fingers in the air. source

  • Acceptance fully of this proposal … would be a good indication that Iran does not wish to be isolated and does wish to co-operate with the international community.
