World: North Korean heir apparent: Kim Jong-un looks friendly to us

  • Is it us, or does it seem like Kim Jong-un might perhaps be a little too nice for the job of being the heir apparent of North Korea? He doesn’t seem to have that unhinged, bloodthirsty look to him that his dad has. Fun fact, by the way: Kim Jong-il wasn’t born in North Korea. He’s technically Russian (specifically, Siberian) by birth. source

Biz: North Korea + News Corp.: Evil forces converge on The Dude again

  • What happened? This wonderful pre-iPhone mobile game to the left is called of “Big Lebowski Bowling,” and it came out way back in 2007. A similar game based on “Men In Black” was also released. The notable thing about the game isn’t so much that it exists, but the distributor is Nosotek, based in North Korea and focusing on distributing North Korean software. That’s right, Dude, they peed on your fucking rug.
  • Why this is badFirst of all, it means that developers in volatile North Korea are getting more adept. Also, it means that News Corp. indirectly gave money to the North Korean government through a developer. The UN says it’s legal, but the U.S. thinks it’s bad for diplomatic policy. Here’s what Kim Jong Il told us personally in an exclusive interview: “Yeah, well, you know, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.” source

World: Protip from State Department: Don’t enter North Korea, idiots

  • The state Department timed its new note to just after the end of Jimmy Carter’s visit. In case you’re wondering, you shouldn’t enter North Korea unless you’re Bill Clinton or Jimmy Carter. “The North Korean government will prosecute and sentence those who enter the DPRK without proper documentation,” the State Department says. “North Korea’s penalties for knowingly or unknowingly violating North Korean laws are much harsher than are those in the United States for similar offenses.” Carter left the country with Aijalon Mahli Gomes, who was sentenced to eight years of hard labor for entering the country. He entered reportedly for humanitarian reasons. source
