Politics: The stupidest quote we’ve ever seen on friendship, ever

  • Parents sometimes say Johnny needs that one special friend. We say he doesn’t need a best friend.
  • School counselor Christine Laycob • On fighting the tide of human nature, which emphasizes that Tango needs his very own Cash. Instead, Laycob says that it’s better that kids have groups of friends who meet at specified times for playdates. Dear Ms. Laycob: Let kids be kids! Don’t force modest, superficial relationships on people over real ones with real emotions! Can’t you just sit in an office all day and be useless like most school counselors? You make it seem like close relationships are awful ideas. source

    of Being a Wallflower.”

Politics: S.E. Cupp: Why can’t the U.S. accept me as who I am?

  • But recently, I’ve felt that my unconditional love of country isn’t being reciprocated. Maybe America’s just not that into me.
  • Conservative commentator S.E. Cupp • Suggesting on AOL News that the U.S. is becoming too much of a nanny state, noting the health care bill in general and some of New York state’s policies in specific (they’re talking about a tax on sugary soda, and it costs an arm and a leg to buy a pack of cigarettes). Her point? “I should be allowed to be as moronic, stupid and unhealthy as I want, as long as the only idiot I’m hurting is myself.” We have to say, we actually kind of like S.E. Cupp’s opinions on things, because unlike a lot of conservative columnists, she seems to have the magical gift of levity. source

Tech: How the Lower Merion webcam-spying sausage was made

  • The dude talking on this clip, Mike Perbix, is the network tech for Lower Merion School District. In this webcast, he’s talking about the spying software installed on all of the machines given to students at Harriton High School, called LanREV. He’s promoting the product, which tells you exactly how invested Perbix was in this technology. Did it ever hit him, or the district, that parents and students might be really pissed about this? The author of the blog post investigating LanREV, by the way, tells you how to remove it in a later post. He calls it a trojan. source
  • Update: Oh, and the kid who got in trouble for reportedly using drugs? He was eating Mike & Ike candy. This school district is run by an institution of idiots.
