Politics, U.S.: Note to the AP/Oakland P.D.: “Dead” ≠ “Brain-dead”
- one Earlier this afternoon, the Associated Press reported that the fourth police officer involved in Saturday’s shooting in Oakland died. It’s a pretty crazy story.
- two Early this evening, the Associated Press got updated information saying that the officer was brain-dead, but not dead. What?! That’s awful. *Forehead slap*
- three This is the danger of being too hasty to report facts. The police made a bad mistake and the AP reported it. Be careful! These are people we’re talking about. source
