Politics: Hillary Clinton: Iran’s gonna pull something, ’cause they always do

  • I think we’ll see something coming up in the next 24 to 48 hours. I don’t think anybody should be surprised if they try to divert attention once again from the unity within the Security Council … but we have the votes.
  • Secretary of State Hillary Clinton • Regarding the sanctions the United Nations Security Council is trying to push for against Iran. Clinton is currently headed to Brazil, where she’s trying to mend fences with the country, which opposes new sanctions on Iran. It’s her second trip to Latin America in three months. source

World: Iran just blew everyone’s minds with their agreeability

  • before Iran seemed close to reaching
a deal on enriching 2,640 pounds
of uranium that pleased the West,
then got all grumblely. Then it
    enriched more uranium.
  • now Iran actually signed an agreement
with Turkey and Brazil to do
    basically the same thing, which
is surprising, but now they have
    more uranium. source

Tech: Who wants your search data? Google gets super-transparent

  • Who’s asking for your data? Google, as a part of the newfound sense of transparency that hit not long after that whole China incident, just put up this government-tracking site to see where requests for user information were coming from. Something tells us the people of Brazil don’t have a lot of reason to be happy right now. source

Music: Dear Brazilian band Deadly Fate: “Galpao 29” not how to win fans

  • The band has been the subject of a seemingly self-induced Twitter trending topic since last night. Do you like metal? How about spam that completely eats up Twitter? Deadly Fate has both in spades. And despite their strategy to overload the Twitter trending topics with tweets mentioning their MySpace page, they don’t seem to have gained any fans since last night, when they started trending. Wonder why. source

Tech: Dell’s smartphones bored the U.S. market, so off to China they go!

  • Oh, and Brazil too, but still … not the U.S. Dell’s Mini 3, anew Google Android-based smartphone, has no shot of really gaining a foothold in the U.S. It’s Dell (boring computers) doing a smartphone (boring smartphones). So, rather than waste all that energy trying to impress American customers who already have iPhones, Pres and Droids to gawk at, they’ve decided to strike out on two different markets which aren’t so staked out by these phones. Good luck selling your boring phones, Dell. source
