I think that it would be absurd to not consider what it is that I can potentially do to help our country. … I won’t close the door that perhaps could be open for me in the future.
Sarah Palin • Speaking on “Fox News Sunday” about her chances of running for president in a couple of years. Wonder what might have suggested that – the dropping out of the Alaska governor position, the commentator position on Fox News, the presidential-sounding speech she made just last night at the Tea Party convention? We just didn’t see it coming. We must be dense. source
Cheney couldn’t possibly win a presidential election … unless somehow he could, in which case the country would be set for a world of pain.
ThinkProgress blogger Matthew Yglesias (whose name always makes us think of Enrique Iglesias) • Describing his surprise but total belief that Dick Cheney could run for president in 2012. If he does, of course, expect our country to turn into the equivalent of an Escape From New York/Mad Max cluster)#(&( the likes we haven’t seen since our most recent worst nightmare. source
Should he be found responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington state.
Presumptive 2012 presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee • Regarding coffee shop ambush person of interest Maurice Clemmons, who he granted clemency in 2001. While it’s too early to call Clemmons a suspect, if he turns out to be, he could turn into something of a Willie Horton – except much worse, due to the attention the case is getting – for Huckabee. source
The Washington Post’s Monday Fix got us to thinking this week due to their power list of Republicans in 2012. Sarah Palin is on top of it. And in a minor upset, Tim Pawlenty is in front of Mitt Romney. And Mike “always a bridesmaid, never a bride” Huckabee is standing pat in fourth. Now, we know it’s early and it doesn’t mean anything, but we’d like to know who you’d most likely vote for in 2012, if given the choice. This is obviously unscientific and mostly for fun. And feel free to tell us how much you hate (insert object of scorn here) in the comments.source
Steve Schmidt, who worked with Palin in the 2008 campaign as John McCain’s chief campaign strategist, says she’d be a disaster. As these things usually are, it was a huge PR windfall for Palin, who stomped on it. The question is, is he right? Is he wrong? Vote.source
