Politics: Sharron Angle isn’t running for Congress after all

  • NO you won’t have Sharron Angle to kick around anymore source
  • » She’s sitting this one out: After declaring a run for the recently-vacated House seat in Nevada, former Senate candidate Sharron Angle is withdrawing her candidacy. Why, you ask? Well, Nevada’s special election laws are vague, and there was some dispute as to how the election would unfold. Angle was hoping for a jungle-style free-for-all, as that would allow her to bypass a primary, but a recent court decision puts the state GOP in charge of nominating a candidate. Because of her embarrassing loss to Harry Reid last November, Angle isn’t very well-liked by the Republican establishment, and there’s no way they were going to nominate her. She hasn’t ruled out a run in 2012, though, so we may not have heard the last of Sharron “Some of you look a little more Asian to me” Angle.

Politics: Comebacks: Sharron Angle to run for open House seat in 2012

  • She’s back! After losing an election to one of the most unpopular politicians in the country, in the biggest election year for her party since 1994, Sharron “Second Amendment Remedies” Angle has announced that she’ll be running for the House of Representatives in 2012. She may have a shot at winning this time, so long as she doesn’t do something silly, like suggest that Hispanic students are actually Hispanics in disguise. source

Politics, U.S.: Remains from the Sharron Angle campaign

  • the election is over. Sharron Angle narrowly lost her bid to unseat Democratic Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada. But Jon Ralston has unearthed a few last bits of trivia about her campaign, including who played Reid in debate prep, the code used by staff to warn of media presence, and Angle’s complicated feelings on dictatorships. Oh, how we miss the election. source

Politics: Fox News on Sharron Angle: Her loss leads to Tea Party questions

  • This is a race where there’s going to be a lot of Monday Morning Quarterbacking regarding the Tea Party.
  • Fox News analyst Carl Cameron • Bringing some perspective to the whole Harry Reid/Sharron Angle situation. As Cameron notes, the seat seemed likely to turn GOP … until Angle became the nominee. Reid was that unpopular in Nevada. But Angle proved to be a very weak competitor (even though she was in it until the end), meaning that Reid gets another six years, as well as another run at Senate Majority Leader. Honestly, this was the biggest loss of the night for the GOP, and one that they can attribute directly to Tea Party influence. source

Politics, U.S.: Sharron Angle knows how to get the Hispanic vote

  • I don’t know that all of you are Latino. Some of you look a little more Asian to me.
  • Sharron Angle • To a room of Hispanic teenagers, at the Hispanic Student Union. Well-played! She also mysteriously claimed that she’s been called “the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly.” Anyone want to try and make sense of that? source

Politics: Credit where credit’s due: Sharron Angle held her own last night

  • You’re one of the richest men in the U.S. Senate. Now on behalf of Nevada taxpayers, I would like to know, we would like to know, how did you become so wealthy on a government payroll?
  • Sharron Angle • In one of many attacks she made against Nevada Senator Harry Reid last night. Let’s face it, while she didn’t necessarily win last night, she stood toe to toe with one of the country’s most powerful Senators. It’s a performance that makes Christine O’Donnell’s debate work seem laughable in comparison. While Reid was probably right to call some of Angle’s views “extreme,” the fact of the matter is she didn’t embarrass herself like many people might have expected given her press-evasiveness. source

Politics: Why can’t Harry Reid shake Sharron Angle in Nevada, anyway?

  • 42% Sharron Angle’s current polling in Nevada
  • 41% Harry Reid’s polling in the state; it’s kind of a statistical dead heat
  • 17% of voters hold Reid’s political future in the balance source
  • » Oh, and it gets worse for Reid: See, the Las Vegas Review-Journal just gave Angle a big endorsement over Reid, throwing some harsh words at the Senate Majority Leader in the process: “As he has climbed higher and higher in the Democratic hierarchy, he has veered further and further to the left, becoming politically disconnected from Nevada and its residents.” This is bad news for Reid, but will it be enough to hurt Harry’s ability to win?
