- The focus has been Hamas The ruling Hamas militant group is the target of the campaign. Israel said that 15 militants were killed in heavy ground fighting on Saturday. Despite the focus, civilians have taken much of the brunt of the attack, with around half of the 800 casualties being civilians. source
