Tech: Vehicles without friction in GTA4: Violent, bloody, hilarious

  • When does gratuitous violence become hilarious? When you take the friction out of Grand Theft Auto 4’s vehicles and let them go all willy-nilly. As this clip shows, people die left and right when flying cars are involved. (thanks nbclocal with an assist from doobybrain)

Offbeat, U.S.: Car theft works in victim’s favor

  • bad A BSU student left his car running outside his house while getting ready. When he returned, the car was gone.
  • good A half hour later, police found the car. It was parked at BSU, right outside the kid’s next class. Convenient!
  • amusing“I just put a couple quarters in the parking meter, and went to class,” the student told reporters. source

Offbeat: Grand theft auto suspect has a pretty meta taste in video games

  • When police found him, he was playing “Grand Theft Auto.” Michael Ray Ekes likes stealing cars just as much as the next video game fan. Problem is, he’s suspected of doing it in real life. Police arrested Ekes, who was already out on bail for grand theft auto charges, after he was suspected of stealing another car. What can you say? The dude likes stealing cars. source
