Harold Camping: Still hasn’t shown his face since the “rapture”

It’s important to mock the prophets. It’s important to mock those that think they know what they are talking about.
Family Church of Laughs leader Ed Holmes • Regarding his satirical group’s protest outside of the Family Radio headquarters in Oakland, California last night, where they filled human-shaped balloons full of helium and sent them to heaven. Harold Camping still hasn’t shown his face since his prophecy failed to come true. We don’t think we can say it better than the Christian Post does with this headline: “Harold Camping Should Publicly Repent, Says Faith Leader.” He should publicly repent. Where is he? source

However, there is no escaping his failed 2011 ‘Doomsday’ prediction. He painted himself into a corner by using words like ‘guaranteed’ and ‘without any shadow of doubt.’ His massive publicity campaign just made it worse.
An International Business Times editorial • Offering harsh words for Harold Camping, the dude who claimed that the rapture was afoot today. Their words for the Family Radio leader are pretty harsh. “In all likelihood, his ministry will be destroyed,” they write, noting that he made it seem like such a sure thing that there was no room for error in his prediction. Other, more mainstream, religious leaders and groups (Pat Robertson, the Jehovah’s Witnesses) have been down this road before, but not with the level of certainty that Camping pushed. That’s why he probably won’t be able to recover from this craziness. source

89-year-old Family Radio owner Harold Camping • Discussing his plans when the end of the world begins on May 21st. This guy’s given the billboard industry a lot of business — his company and his allies have put up 2,200 of them across the country announcing the forthcoming end of the world, which will start with a massive earthquake or some crazy crap that isn’t going to happen. “We know without any shadow of a doubt it is going to happen,” says the guy, who has already been wrong once — back in 1994. source
