  • problem Julian Assange needs to find somewhere to go, stat, because he’s wanted by INTERPOL (RED ALERT!) for sex crimes in Sweden.
  • solution? The Deputy Foreign Minister of Ecuador offered to have Assange stay in his country as a safe haven “without any conditions.” Yeah!

World: Rogue police officers thought about killing Ecuador’s president

  • Remember last week’s near-coup in Ecuador? Apparently, it didn’t go as far as it could have. According to a recording released by the Andes news outlet on Tuesday night, rogue police officers talked about killing President Rafael Correa. “They should kill Correa so this will end,” an unidentified someone said on the recording. “Kill Correa and this demonstration will end.” Is it true? If it is, Correa dodged a bullet – possibly literally. source

World: Ecuadorian President nearly killed over budget cuts. Really

  • If you want to kill the president, here he is. Kill him, if you want to. Kill him if you are brave enough.
  • Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa • In the midst of a lengthy standoff, which started with hundreds of police officers assaulting him with water, tear gas and other not-very nice things. Looking for help in the police hospital, he was surrounded again. He eventually had to be rescued. Why did this happen? Well, the police officers are upset about a new law that cuts their benefits and bonuses for budgetary reasons. Really? Jesus. source
