Culture: “The Hobbit” looks to emerge from development hell
- WITH PETER JACKSON!!! For the love of God. About time. The “Hobbit” movies, which have been hotly anticipated eved since the last “Lord of the Rings” movie came out, looks like it’s actually going to happen as part of a brokered deal between MGM and Warner Bros. Why the trouble? Simply, the main studio behind the films, MGM, has been in dire financial straits for months and is currently in a state of ownership flux. The movie already lost a director in the form of Guillermo del Toro, but on the plus side, if the movies start up by the end of the year, “Rings” director Peter Jackson wlll be back behind the helm. Win-win all around, right? source
