Politics: The worst opening statement in debate history

  • What happened? Appointed Governor Jan Brewer (R-AZ), most famous for this controversial bill, wasn’t asked a difficult question at the start of yesterday’s debate. In fact, she wasn’t asked a question at all; she was simply given an open opportunity to introduce herself to voters. This is the easiest part of a debate, and yet somehow, Brewer found a way to bungle it (and badly). This may be the most unforced error in the history of political debates. source
