• Microsoft Songsmith sucks Songsmith, which creates music based on your ability to sing, could be a cool idea. But its downfall is the uber-cheeseball MIDI backing music, straight out of a Casiotone circa 1985 (disclosure from the author: I own this keyboard).
• One example of it in action David Lee Roth’s wonderful singing was one of Van Halen’s greatest assets. Unless, that is, you took away the backing music, as on this laughable vocal track from “Running with the Devil.” Some enterprising fellow threw it in Songsmith, and here’s the result. source
