Ted Kennedy, the leader of one of the nation’s most iconic political families, had been suffering from brain cancer in the last few years. “We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever,” a statement from his family said.
