The web hosting company gave away ten Macbook Pro laptops to people who used “#moonfruit” in their tweets, which pushed the hashtag to the top of the trending list. Since then, their website has seen a 200% rise in visits from the UK and an astounding 1,000% rise in visits from the US.  • source

  • It seems to be open season on anyone trying to highlight the appalling human rights abuses in Chechnya. It’s high time the Russian government acted to stop these killings and prosecute those responsible.

Prominent rights activist and researcher Natalia Estemirova was abducted outside her home in Ingushetia this morning and found dead just hours later. Estemirova was well known for her work in Chechnya and won the inaugural Anna Politkovskaya prize in 2007.  • source
