Music: Don’t wait to listen to “Camp”. You’ll be out of the cool loop.

  • Childish Gambino’s “Camp” is streaming already: You should have heard about “rap’s stepfather” by now. Childish Gambino, who you might know better as actor and writer Donald Glover, is releasing his latest album this month. Entitled “Camp,” it’s set to drop on November 15 … but if you’re cool, you can listen to it today. Thanks to NPR’s First Listen, you can listen to the entire album for free. It’s not safe for work due to explicit lyrics, but if we had our way, this would be mandatory listening material in every workplace. Take him seriously, though, as “few hip-hop artists have blurred the boundaries of rap and humor more subversively — or for a more serious end — than Childish Gambino.” source

Music: Devo’s listening parties: Much more feline than yours

  • We’re sure the “I Can Has Cheezbuger” folks love this. To celebrate the band’s release of its first album in about 20 years (years which have been spent, among other things, in “Rugrats” purgatory), the band had a listening party. In a room full of cats. Seems pretty awesome, right? (Hat tip Laughing Squid) source

Music: Thank the Lord. Sufjan Stevens is finally working on his next album

  • We’ve played on some of the tracks and been listening to some of the stuff as he’s been working on it. … It’s going to be incredible. It’s going to probably blow people’s minds.
  • The National’s Bryce Dessner • Revealing that Sufjan Stevens finally got off his butt and decided to start recording that new album, a whole five years after “Illinois” (and a whole year after we scolded him for keeping fans waiting). It’s not like he’s been quiet, though. He still runs his Asthmatic Kitty label, he’s done Christmas music, he released his “The BQE” art project last year, and he’s been a little too frank in interviews. No word on whether this will be another “state” album. source

Music: Protip: The National’s new “High Violet” streaming free this weekend

This, of course, is only for fans of anthemic indie rock sung by dudes with really low voices. In other words, everybody. (Right?) source

Music: The Drive-By Truckers make a “Big To-Do” on record

  • For some reason, this skipped under our radar, but here it is – the new Drive-By Truckers album. It comes out Tuesday, two years after the solid “Brighter Than Creation’s Dark,” which may have been the band’s peak. And that’s saying a lot.

Music: The formerly fresh-faced Whitney Houston’s got a new album

  • 1985 Whitney Houston made her first album. It was loaded with cheesy, loveable hits. We loved her.
  • 1992 Bobby Brown got married to Whitney Houston. Over time, he ruined her image. Good job, bro.
  • 2002 Crack is wack. This interview turned her into a target of parody. Honestly, it still makes us laugh.
  • 2009 “I Look to You,” Houston’s first album in seven years, comes out. It leaves the crack out of it. source

Music: Dwight from “The Office” came up with Weezer’s new album title

  • He has a super-rock persona. When it came time to find a title for the Weezer album, I asked him what he thought the ultimate album title would be and he said ‘Raditude.’
  • Weezer frontman RIvers Cuomo • Discussing Rainn Wilson’s role in creating the kinda-lame, kinda awesome title for “Raditude,” the next mediocre album from Weezer. We can see this title working if Rainn Wilson is saying it. But nobody else. • source

Music: Weezer finally completes its conversion into The All-American Rejects

Pitchfork nudged us towards Weezer’s new single, “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To,” from their new album “Raditude.” It sucks. source

Music: We could post Andrew W.K. videos on the site all day

  • Our favorite ironic celebrity of all time has a new album coming out. Of solo piano playing. Called “55 Cadillac.” But based on this video, you’d think it was the soundtrack to a summer blockbuster. Awesome, kids. Just awesome.

Music: Kurt Cobain pulls a Tupac, releases a new Nirvana album

  • This jerk doesn’t have anything on Girl Talk, but let’s just say that the combination of Rick Astley and Nirvana works far better than it should. And you’ve just been Rickrolled.
